Meet Christie

Christie's journey into autism diagnostics didn't start in a classroom — it started at home. Over 25 years ago, her oldest child was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, and at the time, she'd never even heard the word "autism." That moment sparked a search for answers that never really stopped.

She went back to school, earning her bachelor's and master's degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Illinois University. While still a student, she worked as an autism consultant with a caseload of over 60 children, learning firsthand what it takes to support kids across every kind of classroom setting.

Her career eventually led her to the Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, where she trained in the ADOS — the gold-standard tool for diagnosing autism — and completed over 1,000 evaluations in just four years. From there, she spent nearly 14 years at the Kennedy Krieger Institute's Center for Autism and Related Disorders in Baltimore, working alongside psychiatrists and specialists to help families navigate complex cases involving ADHD, anxiety, depression, and more.

In 2021, Christie completed her clinical doctorate in speech-language pathology and moved back home to Missouri after 30 years away. She now brings all of that experience — plus the perspective of a parent who's been exactly where you are — to every family she works with.

Meet Brian

Brian's path began at West Point, where he earned his bachelor's degree before spending four years on active duty in the U.S. Army. He later transferred to the Army National Guard to attend medical school, earning his MD from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and becoming board certified in family medicine in 2004.

Since then, Brian has spent two decades in urgent care and emergency medicine, all while continuing to serve — deploying once to Afghanistan and twice to Iraq along the way.

It wasn't until he met and married Christie that autism became personal for him too. Through her, he's come to understand what a diagnosis really means for a family — not just the clinical side, but the everyday reality of adapting, advocating, and growing alongside a neurodivergent loved one. That experience has given him a deep respect for the families this practice serves, and he considers it a privilege to be part of a team dedicated to the neurodivergent community.
